“When you stop learning, you’re old, whether at twenty or eighty." Abraham Lincoln
Far too many Christians are sick, and some die way before they should. This is in spite of the fact that God has promised us a long life with good health, and has made no provision in His Word that justifies anything less for you.

“Neuroimaging has shown that as we age, the centre of cognitive gravity tends to shift from the imaginative right brain to the logical left brain. And this neurological tendency presents a grave danger. At some point, most of us stop living out of imagination and start living out of memory. Instead of creating the future, we start repeating the past. Instead of living by faith, we live by logic. Instead of going after our dreams, we stop circling Jericho." Mark Batterson

If all you can think about is how life used to be, and not what life will be, everything starts to shut down around you. People will no longer want to hear what you have to say, opportunities will cease, and health will dissipate. The abundant life is not age restricted, as long as your mind is engaged in His Word (John 10:10). That’s why it’s important to dream big for your role in building God’s Kingdom, and never give in to a mediocre routine, devoid of the excitement and expectation of achieving new exploits for God. When you stop talking about the old days and think, talk, and act out your future, you will birth new levels of faith that will propel you toward supernatural accomplishments.

You have to be convinced that God wants you to live a long and productive life in order to fulfil all the plans He has purposed for you. There is no precedent in scripture that sickness or dying young is the will of God for your life. The battle for life and death rages in the mind, and is the devil’s arena for victory or defeat. All thoughts of premature death, or being incapacitated through sickness, accidents, or incidents have to be taken captive to Christ the instant they enter your mind. Such thoughts attempt to defy the promise of God to you for a long and abundant life, according to Proverbs 3:1-2 which says,

“My son, forget not my law or teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments; for length of days and years of a life [worth living] and tranquility [inward and outward and continuing through old age till death], these shall they add to you” (Amplified).

Each of us has a life assignment that God has planned for us, and we are not supposed to die until it has been completed. Someone said,

“You should die empty and not full, having emptied yourself of all that God put in you.”

I don’t want to give the impression that I understand why some have lost loved ones prematurely. I don’t, and I have unanswered questions like most of you. However, I want to encourage you, not to focus on things not fully understood, but on the promises of God that we do. God has promised us long life, and He will never disappoint us if we take Him at His word (Romans 5:5).

The key to a long and healthy life is renewing your mind through God’s Word, and from it a deeper relationship with the Healer will follow.

Health Action: Declare

  • I trust God’s Word to satisfy me with a long and healthy life, and I will fulfil the plans and purposes for which He created me. Thank you Father I am full of hope for a long and fruitful life.
“With long life He will satisfy me, and show me my salvation” Psalm 91:16.

Health Action: Meditate

  • “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers.” 3 John 1:2 (Amplified).
  • “My son, forget not my law or teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments; for length of days and years of a life [worth living] and tranquility [inward and outward and continuing through old age till death], these shall they add to you.” Proverbs 3:1-2 (Amplified).
  • “Dear friend, take my advice; it will add years to your life.” Proverbs 4:10-15 (Message).
  • “For by me (wisdom from God) your days will be multiplied, and years of life shall be increased.” Proverbs 9:11 (Amplified).

Worship is such a towering theme in the Bible, and there is strong evidence throughout scripture that worship is a powerful environment to receive healing, and maintain good health. God created you to worship, and it’s the one thing that He requires from you above all else.

It's not an overstatement to say that the Christian life is meaningless without worship, and your success and health is largely dependent on the lifestyle practice of it. By understanding the connection between worship and healing, your relationship with God will deepen, and you will enjoy a renewed sense of trust in Him as your Healer.
